I thought pneumonia was only something you had to worry about in the wintertime. And, I also thought only little kids or old people got it. It turns out I was wrong about both of those ideas. On Sunday I started getting a cough, not a big deal. Monday, I started getting the body aches...just a little flu or something? Tuesday really early in the morning I was having chills, my body was aching and I couldn't quit coughing. That morning when I tried to get out of bed, I was so lightheaded and dizzy I thought I was going to fall down. (My sweet husband took care of the kids and everything around the house that day so I could just stay in bed.) That afternoon, I was having a really hard time catching my breath and knew I better go to the doc. My wonderful mom drove all the way here to watch the kids so Jimmy could take me. The doctor did my bloodwork, then tested for influenza. My white blood cell count was really high and I had a high fever, but the influenza test came back negative. So, they did a chest x-ray, and $600 worth of tests later they diagnosed it as lingular pneumonia. (lingular is just the place in the lungs where it is located) So I am now loading up on antibiotics every day, and I also go the doctor every day for a $100 shot of antibiotics. I use an inhaler to help me breathe better, and I have seriously been in bed for 3 days. My fever is gone and I can breathe much better than I could on Tuesday, but I still feel lightheaded. My mom took both kids home with her Tuesday night because I am really worried about them catching this. I especially worry about Elly because after having RSV she is more prone to getting pneumonia. My mom is the best. It would be really hard to get this much rest with the kids around, and I feel a lot better about them being up there away from all of my germs. I don't know what I would do without my MOM! I keep hoping I will be back to normal soon, but the doc said it takes 7-10 days to gain back 80% of your strength, and 6 WEEKS to feel 100%--I don't know if I believe that. I really need to go back to work on Monday, and that didn't give me much hope. More importantly, I need to get back to being a MOMMY! Anyone out there ever had pneumonia?
On a lighter note, here are some fun pics of my little munchkins. It's only been 2 days since I've seen them, and I really miss them already!

That is really crazy you got pneumonia. Sounds like a nightmare. I hope you start feeling better soon. Sounds like a very expensive sickness to have. Your kids are adorable.
I'm sorry you're sick again :( Why couldn't it have come a couple of months ago when you were still covered under insurance?! I don't know if pneumonia is more prevalent in people with asthma, but my siblings used to get it a lot. I didn't know it was contagious... just figured it was something to go along with people with weak lungs!
