FHE

Let me just say that FHE at our house is usually about 10 minutes long, which is ok since Carter is only 3. It has been interesting coming up with some sort of a lesson that he will understand. Last week we taught him about prophets. We showed him a picture of President Monson and told him to say, "President Monson is a prophet." So he repeated it like this, "President prophet is a Moffet." (: So last night my very creative husband was in charge of the Family Home Evening lesson. He decided to continue on with the prophet idea. Berorehand, he was gathering up every stuffed animal in our house and I was wondering what he could be up to. He told Carter the story of Noah's ark, then brought out a towel for a robe and told Carter he got to be Noah now. Carter stood up on the piano bench and said, "Repent Everyone!" Then Jimmy said, "Uh-oh, they're not repenting. We better go and build an ark." So they proceeded to build a pretty awesome ark in Carter's room with blankets around his bunk bed. Carter sang "Follow the Prophet," then called for all of the animals that Jimmy had gathered to get on the ark, followed by his family. We all sat inside while Jimmy described the rain, wind and waves that were surrounding us. Then Jimmy had a paper airplane that he called the dove, and he sent it flying outside the "ark." Carter (aka Noah) waited for the dove to come back to see if it had collected a branch. Jimmy drew a green branch on the paper airplane and sent it flying back into the ark. After that, of course, it was time to get out and see the dry land. It was hillarious. And Carter absolutely loved it. When we were done he said, "Let's do it again!"

The first Saturday of every month, Home Depot has a free Kid's project. Last time we went, Carter built a little tool box. This time it was a toy car display shelf. Carter LOVES tools and especially loves building something with his dad. Elly wanted to get in on the action, too.
