Well, for those of you who don't know already, we have had a pretty crazy week. We have all been passing around the winter cold/flu that everyone gets and I was really hoping Elly wouldn't get it. Sunday she started getting a snotty nose and a little bit of a cough, but nothing I was worried about. Sunday night she really started getting sick--this little girl never cries, and she cried all night so I knew she really wasn't feeling well. Monday morning, Jimmy called the pediatrician's office and talked to the nurse to see if she thought we needed to bring her in. She said, "Well, she doesn't have a fever, so it can't be RSV. If she's not better in ten days, then bring her in." (Seriously, ten days!) When I got home from work on Monday, my poor baby was pale as a ghost. My mom said she barely ate anything all day, and the little she did eat, she threw up. Also, she was only awake maybe 10 minutes all day--she was really lethargic. Then I noticed she started looking worse and worse and she started turning a little blue around her mouth and nose. I took her in to the doctor (that is a whole other story, too, but this is already getting too long). Anyway, the next thing I knew, we were in the emergency room and the doctor was calling for an ambulance to transport her to Portneuf. Her oxygen level was in the low 70s. I rode in the ambulance with her and we made it to Pocatello in about an hour. They did some blood work and tests, and looked at her chest x-rays. I couldn't believe it when the doctor said she tested positive for RSV and also has pneumonia! Poor baby. She has been in the hospital all week, and the doctor finally let us go home this afternoon, but she is still on the oxygen. Hopefully she'll only need it for a few more days. She weighed 8 lbs 12 oz this morning, and she weighed more than that a few weeks ago, so this illness was rough on her. MORAL OF THE STORY IS-- IF YOU THINK YOU SHOULD TAKE YOUR CHILD TO THE DOCTOR--DO IT! DON'T CALL FIRST TO ASK THE NURSE WHAT SHE THINKS YOU SHOULD DO!) Elly is doing so much etter now, and is finally acting like her sweet little happy self again! That was such a scary experience, but we feel so blessed that it wasn't any worse than it was. Thanks to everyone who was praying for our baby girl! (And Mom, thanks for all your help with Carter--You are a lifesaver. I don't know what I would do without you!!!)
The Bees taking care of Elly in the ambulance- her car seat was strapped to the gurny and they held the oxygen for her.

Unloading Elly from the ambulance in Pocatello

This is where Elly spent the week

Poor baby! (I have never seen such a little hospital gown- kinda cute!)

Coming home (thanks for the flowers Aunt Em, Ang, Heidi, Miss and Lara!)

Oh my gosh, that made me sick to read! I am so sad that she struggled through that! I am SO glad she is doing okay too :) She is such a tiny little dolly. Once again.... THANK GOODNESS for her being on medicaid! That has turned out to be such a life saver!
Okay... I SO wish you had the Monday off of the bachelor finale it looks like it's going to be great & I wish we could watch it together!!! I know the roads are bad, but I have nothing to do this weekend & you should seriously think about coming over for a visit :)
I too am so glad that, that ordeal is over and done for you now! Let me know if there is anything that I can do, or if Carter wants to come and play! take care and give that baby kisses for me! I'd come and see you, but I am dying from a killer body cold! So I'll check in when I'm over this! love ya
I am so sorry. RSV is such a horrible thing. Kambria has been sick too and i called the Dr. today and they told me the same thing that they told you guys. Kambria has had a fever and snotty nose, but no cough yet so they told me to just keep an eye on her.
Oh man so sad! I'm glad to hear she is fine now. so many babies are getting RSV this year. Becky Wuthrich's twins are in the hospital with it, and they are in California. I'm lucky my little girls never got it. Your little girl is so chunky and cute! I love it. I hope my next baby is soooo chunky.
